Extensive Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Casting Report

Larson Hill

Fans of Breaking Dawn have a lot more casting news to digest now that Summit Entertainment has unleashed a slew of Twilight Saga info for Breaking Dawn on the masses.

Over the past few weeks, fans of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn have received new Breaking Dawn casting updates, which included Mackenzie Foy as Renesmee in Breaking Dawn and various members of the Denali vampire coven. Now Summit Entertainment has unleashed the motherload of Breaking Dawn casting news, which includes The Amazon Coven, The Egyptian Coven, The Irish Coven and The Romanian Coven, as well as the American and European nomads.
Check out the official Breaking Dawn cast release from Summit Entertainment below.
THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – Casting Update
Summit Entertainment announced today the following have been cast in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN for roles in The Amazon Coven, The Egyptian Coven, The Irish Coven and The Romanian Coven as well as the American and European Nomads as outlined below.
THE AMAZON COVEN
The Amazon Coven is comprised of Tracey Heggins as Senna and Judi Shekoni as Zafrina.
Among the oldest vampires in the world, Senna and Zafrina are descendants of an ancient Amazonian tribe. They have lived outside of civilization for centuries and therefore make no attempt to keep up a human facade. Though they drink human blood, the Amazons have long been allies of Carlisle.
THE EGYPTIAN COVEN
The Egyptian Coven is comprised of:
Omar Metwally (RENDITION, MUNICH) as Amun.
Andrea Gabriel (Lost, House) as Kebi.
Rami Malek (NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM) as Benjamin.
Angela Sarafyan (LOVE HURTS, THE GOOD GUYS) as Tia.
The Egyptian Coven consists of Amun, Kebi, Benjamin, and Tia, with Amun as the leader. It is stated that even though they are not a biological family, they could pass for one. Amun is extremely protective of his family and fearful of Aro.
THE IRISH COVEN
The Irish Coven is comprised of Marlane Barnes (THE TREE OF LIFE) as Maggie, Lisa Howard as Siobhan and Patrick Brennan as Liam.
The Irish Coven, a relatively young group, was founded by Siobhan and Liam, but Maggie's talent made her an important element of it. They are not vegetarian but they are civilized.
THE ROMANIAN COVEN
The Romanian Coven is comprised of Noel Fisher (THE PACIFIC, FINAL DESTINATION 2) as Vladimir and Guri Weinberg (MUNICH) as Stefan.
The Romanian Coven is one of the oldest covens in the world and they were the ruling vampire family until they were unseated by the Volturi. For that reason they harbor a centuries old resentment of the Italian coven.
THE AMERICAN NOMADS
The American Nomads are comprised of:
Lee Pace as Garrett (Pushing Daisies, THE GOOD SHEPHERD).
Toni Trucks (MUSIC AND LYRICS) as Mary.
Bill Tangradi (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) as Randall.
Erik Odom as Peter.
Valorie Curry (Veronica Mars) as Charlotte.
Turned during the Revolutionary War, Garrett has chosen to live a nomadic existence, wandering the world on his own. Garrett has never lost the rebellious spirit of his human life, and loves a good fight, always rooting for the underdog. Though not a vegetarian, Garrett is among Carlisle's closest and oldest friends.
Mary and Randall are American nomadic vampires.
Peter and Charlotte are nomadic vampires and mates. They were created during the aftermath of the Southern Vampire Wars, in which Jasper was a key player. They have remained friends with Jasper ever since.
THE EUROPEAN NOMADS
The European Nomads are comprised of Joe Anderson (THE CRAZIES) as Alistair.
A nomadic vampire from England, Alistair has a misanthropic, brooding personality and a deep mistrust of all authority. Although he counts Carlisle as his closest acquaintance, he doesn’t visit more than once a century.

'Breaking Dawn' Casts Maggie Grace As Irina

http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1648828/20100927/story.jhtml?xrs=eml_MTVMovies4

'Lost' and 'Taken' actress will play a 'vegetarian' vampire who turns on the Cullens.

Last month we learned that "The Pacific" actor Rami Malek had joined the "Dawn" ranks in the role of Egyptian vampire Benjamin. On Monday (September 27), it was reported that "Lost" and "Taken" actress Maggie Grace has signed on to play "vegetarian" vampire Irina.
A rep from Summit Entertainment confirmed the casting to MTV News, and the original story appeared first on Deadline.com.
So who is Irina? Those familiar with Stephenie Meyer's source material will recall that she is a member of the Denali coven, one of the only other "vegetarian" vampire covens and allies with the Cullens — that is, until Irina blames the family for the death of her former lover, Laurent, and vengefully reveals a Cullen family secret to the Volturi.
The other "Dawn" newbie, Benjamin, is a member of the Egyptian coven who comes to help Bella and the Cullens battle the Volturi. Benjamin is a young vamp blessed with the special ability of controlling the elements (à la Storm from X-Men), though he has yet to fully master his powers.
"I think it's going to be great," Rami told "ET" of his joining the cast last month. "It's going to be super exciting, and I'm thrilled."
Summit announced in June that "Breaking Dawn" would be divided into two parts; the first of the two films is scheduled to hit theaters November 18, 2011, and the second on November 16, 2012.

'Breaking Dawn' Casts Rami Malek As Benjamin 'I'm thrilled,' the 'Pacific' actor says of joining high-profile series.

Just when it seemed like things were all quiet on the "Twilight" front — save for a few updates from actress Nikki Reed and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg — "Entertainment Tonight" reports that "Pacific" star Rami Malek will be joining the "Breaking Dawn" cast as Egyptian vampire Benjamin.
"I think it's going to be great," he told "ET." "It's going to be super exciting, and I'm thrilled."
In addition to "The Pacific," Malek has appeared in various films and TV shows, most recently in the "Night at the Museum" movies as Ahkmenrah. He is also in Tom Hanks' upcoming film "Larry Crowne."
So who is Benjamin? Fans of the books will remember him as a member of the Egyptian coven who, upon receiving word from Carlisle, comes to help Bella and the Cullens battle the Volturi. Benjamin is a young vamp blessed with the special ability of controlling the elements (à la Storm from X-Men), though he has yet to fully master his powers.
Benjamin is just one of many new characters in "Dawn." The extra roles have proven to be a challenge for Rosenberg, who told us recently she's currently struggling with the film's big battle scene, during which the two groups of vamps face off.
"The final battle sequence is a big challenge, because it lasts 25 pages," she said. "It's almost an entire three-act story in and of itself. You have to track hundreds of characters. It's an enormous challenge to choreograph on the page and for [director] Bill [Condon] to choreograph on the stage."
What do you think of Rami Malek's casting as Benjamin? Let us know in the comments!

Summit Addresses The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Rumors
Posted 08.22.10 by Jenny
It'll come as no surprise that rumors about final Twilight Saga movie Breaking Dawn have been making the rounds, ever since Summit first gave the movie the go ahead. Fans have mostly been speculating on Bella's violent birthing scene and how baby Renesmee will be created — will CGI or a series of actresses be used? Summit recently sent an email to Twilight fansites to clear up several recent rumors, and here's what we know so far.
1. Bella and Edward's miracle child, Renesmee, will not have a change of name for the movie — good or bad news, depending on your opinion.
2. Newborn vampire Riley (Xavier Samuel), first seen in Eclipse, will not be rising from the ashes to make an appearance in Breaking Dawn. His IMDb page is wrong — don't believe everything you read there, Twilighters.
3. Deborah Zane is the only casting director working on Breaking Dawn. No local auditions are being held, and there are no nationwide casting notices.
We're sure it won't be long before Summit is back with another edition of "Breaking Dawn: True or False?," so stay tuned.

'Twilight' Spoof 'Vampires Suck': Meet Your Edward Sullen

'Twilight' Spoof 'Vampires Suck': Meet Your Edward Sullen

By George Loomis

When a film is successful enough to warrant third, fourth and even fifth(!) chapters, that usually means it’s time to start roasting a franchise a bit. Just like “Star Wars” got “Spaceballs” and the horror genre reaped “Scary Movie” flicks, vampire films now deserve their own roast. And whether self-proclaimed “Twi-hards” like it or not, that time has finally come for “The Twilight Saga.”

"'Vampires Suck’ is a spoof on ‘Twilight,’” Matt Lanter (best known for “90210”) explained to MTV News at last night’s Teen Choice Awards. “I play the Edward character. It was fun. It was great, man. We pretty much follow ‘The Twilight Saga’ and just poke fun at it and have fun.”

Though Matt’s having fun branching out from his regular zip code, the obvious next question is… will millions of “Twilight” fans worldwide have fun, too? According to Matt, Twilighters just might. If they decide to give “Vampires Suck” a chance when it hits theaters August 18, that is.

“Am I scared [of the Twi-hards]? Everybody’s been asking me that. Yeah, I’m scared!” the actor next seen as Edward Cullen — oh wait, I meant Edward Sullen — confessed. Noticeable differences about Matt’s Edward include a hair poof standing at least six inches above his head.

“You know, what’s actually cool, though, is that I’ve gotten a lot of really good responses, a couple of Twitter [responses], you know, stuff like that,” Matt explained. “A lot of people say they’re really excited for it. It’s adding to the story. I mean, let’s face it. They’re so huge and it’s such a successful franchise that we wouldn’t be doing it if it wasn’t for them.”

So just because you’re in love with the “Twilight” films, don’t rule out “Vampires Suck” completely. Maybe it’s your chance to finally have a few laughs over the ridiculous situations those characters get themselves into. Besides, as Matt reminded us yesterday, “Imitation is the greatest form of flattery!”

Do you think it’s too soon to already start roasting the most bankable franchise in Hollywood today? Is Matt a good fit for the role of Edward Sullen, and will you see “Vampires Suck” on August 18?

Robert Pattinson 'Glad' Two-Part 'Breaking Dawn' Will Be Shot Back-To-Back

Robert Pattinson 'Glad' Two-Part 'Breaking Dawn' Will Be Shot Back-To-Back

With Summit Entertainment's long-expected announcement that "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn" will be split into two films, "Twilight" fans breathed a collective sigh of "obviously." But while the statement seemed to be released so it could coincide with Saturday's "Eclipse" junkets, one member of the cast has reason to be opposed to Summit's choice of timing: Robert Pattinson.

Turns out the man also known as Spunk Ransom was forced to admit that he hasn't had a chance to read the final installment of "The Twilight Saga" since it was released two years ago due to his busy schedule, which includes his upcoming role in "Bel Ami." Since filming is expected to begin this fall for "Breaking Dawn," sounds like Pattinson had better get reading.

Pattinson was able to confirm, however, that "Breaking Dawn" will be following the path of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" in having both of its films shot back-to-back. This bit of news was also expected but remained unconfirmed from Summit Entertainment's press release last week.

"I'm glad they're shooting them together at least because I think that would just be easier, doing it all in one," Pattinson admitted.

Even though he hasn't yet read the novel, Pattinson still knows a thing or two about the more talked-about "Breaking Dawn" moments. MTV News' Josh Horowitz commented that some of the story's big surprises have already been announced — like the fact that Bella Swan is going to be having a baby — and asked Pattinson what he felt about what "Breaking Dawn" had in store.

"I think that's going to be very funny," he said about the birthing scene. "The only thing I know about it is the famous scene: the kind of cesarean scene ... I do not envy Bill Condon to have to think of some way to do that."

Check out everything we've got on "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn."

'New Moon' Star Taylor Lautner Faces Off With 'Buffy' Actor Seth Green In Tournament of Werewolves

Posted 2/5/10 4:51 pm ET by Terri Schwartz in Movie News, Movies, TV News, Twilight Forever!

In honor of the "Sweet Sixteen" countdown trends running rampant through media outlets recently, the folks over at FearNet.com decided to have a fan vote-off to choose the world's fiercest werewolves. Their Tournament of Werewolves kicked off on January 29 with four categories: American Wolf Men, International Wolf Men, She-Wolves and Teen Wolves, with four options in each.
Earlier this week they announced the final two in the American and International Wolf Men categories, but today the results were announced for the final two Teen Wolves and She-Wolves, and we couldn't be more thrilled.

Unsurprisingly the Teen Wolf category will feature a face-off between our favorite young hunk Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black from "The Twilight Saga," and our favorite werewolf from the 90s, Seth Green as Oz in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." They defeated Butch Patrick as Eddie Munster in "The Munsters" and Michael J. Fox as Scott Howard in "Teen Wolf," respectively.

Anna Paquin made a surprise win in the She-Wolves category for her role as Laurie in the finally-to-DVD cult hit "Trick 'R' Treat." She will be facing off against Katharine Isabelle as Ginger Fitzgerald from the 2000 film "Ginger Snaps." This isn't the only time Anna will be dealing with werewolves this coming year, though, as she will soon have the werewolf Alcide as a love interest in the third season of "True Blood."

Voting will continue over the weekend and the winner from each category will be announced Monday. We are Team Anna and Team Taylor, clearly. The final four will face off on Wednesday, and the winner will be announced next Friday to coincide with the opening of Benicio del Toro's "The Wolfman."

Who is your ultimate werewolf?

Robert Pattinson Stopping By 'The View', A New Comic Book, And More!

Robert Pattinson may not be working on the final 'Twilight' film just yet - but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a lot going on. The 'Twilight' star will be headed to 'The View' on March 2nd to chat with co-hosts Barbara, Whoopi, Joy, Elisabeth and Sherri.

In May, Pattinson will be on the cover of Fame, which is a comic book featuring biographies of the famous. The 32-page comic will follow Pattinson's life from his debut on the London stage, through 'Harry Potter', to his leading role in the 'Twilight' series.

Kim Sherman, the illustrator responsible for bringing this feature to life commented on the project saying, "These biography comics are designed to illustrate interesting tidbits to fans about their favorite figureheads, and inspire them to learn more. I chose to conceptualize A-lister Robert Pattinson from a unique perspective, immersing the reader into the life of the talented actor beyond his most famous role."

Pattinson's latest project 'Remember Me' with co-star Emilie de Ravin is due out this March.
